TitlePAPERS OF HARRY ARTHUR SIEPMANN: CORRESPONDENCE
Date1 Jan 1930 - 31 Dec 1930
DescriptionWith index of correspondents. The letters are concerned almost exclusively with Continental affairs. The majority are to Continental Central Banks or to other Officials on the Continent, and seek information about, or give comments on, economic and financial developments. Some of the letters are in French and some in German. Most of them will also be in the relevant OV files. There are many letters about the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Siepmann declined an offer of a post in Basle, but in London in April his energies were 'almost entirely devoted to the BIS'. There are also some letters from Addis, Vice-Chairman of the Organisation Committee, and from Francis Rodd, Siepmann's assistant. There are many letters about Greece (to Finlayson in Athens), Yugoslavia (to Bark) and Hungary (Tabakovits and others). Special subjects include relations with the Bank of France, June, gold Assayers and Melters, August, and United Kingdom (UK) silver coin 1920-30, December.
