Activity | Bridge was educated at Streatham Grammar School and Dulwich College and joined the Bank of England in 1929. In 1939, he joined the Foreign Exchange Office and he spent the rest of his career in that field. From 1950 to 1952 he was the United Kingdom (UK) alternate director to the European Payments Union (EPU). Bridge became the Principal of the Dealing and Accounts Office in 1953, with responsibility for the Bank's day-to-day foreign exchange operations. He was Deputy Chief Cashier (1957 - 1963), Adviser to the Governors (1963 - 1965) and Assistant to the Governors from 1965 until his retirement in 1969. Bridge was President of the Association Cambiste International (FOREX) from 1962 to 1967, and then Honorary President. He was a fellow of the RSA (Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce). |
