Andrew Hebden - Deputy Agent, North East

Andrew HebdenAndrew joined the Bank in summer 2013 from the CBI where he was Assistant Director for the North East.

Prior to joining the CBI, Andrew spent 11 years in regional journalism at newspapers in Yorkshire, Scotland and the North East, latterly as Assistant Editor and Head of Business at The Journal in Newcastle. He won several awards during his time as a journalist, including the Prince’s Trust Local Reporting Award.

Andrew is a graduate of the CBI’s Future Leaders programme, a former member of the council of the North East Chamber of Commerce and helped establish the Let’s Grow campaign, a £30m Regional Growth Fund initiative to support business growth in the North East.

Born in Leeds, he is a graduate of Durham University (BA in History and Politics) and Sheffield University (MA in Journalism Studies). He is a keen marathon runner, occasional surfer and long-suffering supporter of Bradford City FC.
