John Footman - Secretary of the Bank

John Footman
Appointed as Secretary to the Bank in 2009, including Secretary to the Prudential Regulation Authority from 1 April 2013.

John has worked in many areas of the Bank including Economic Intelligence Department (the predecessor of Monetary Analysis), the Overseas Department and Industrial Finance Division.
He was seconded to set up the Securities and Investments Board from 1985-86. He was Principal Private Secretary to Bank of England Governor Leigh-Pemberton from 1986-89, and then became Head of Information Division, a role he later combined with being Secretary of the Bank. He was Deputy Director for Financial Structure in 1997 and Personnel Director from 1999. From 2003-13 he was Executive Director for Central Services.
John lives in London, with his wife and children.
