Historical Quarterly Bulletins

The Quarterly Bulletin was first published in December 1960 following a recommendation in 1959 by the Radcliffe Committee on the Working of the Monetary System.

In a speech given at the Mansion House on 12 November 1959 the Governor said of Radcliffe’s findings: ‘The one fundamental criticism, of financial institutions in general and the Bank of England in particular, is that we should go further and faster in the assembly, and more particularly in the publications, of financial information and in the business of explaining to the public what we are about. I can say at once that the Bank of England accept the Committee’s general conclusions on this subject……We have already undertaken to produce a more detailed annual report, and we shall hope in due course to supplement it with some other form of publication.’

This page lists Quarterly Bulletins published between 1960 and 2005. For bulletins issued from 2006 see Related Links.
