We run a series of seminars and workshops in London on core central banking issues, as described in our Prospectus (see Key Resources below). We also have a large programme of activities abroad, including regional seminars, research workshops and conferences, jointly organised with other central banks or regional training institutions and attended by participants from a number of countries. A few of our events, in particular our expert visits, are geared to the specific needs of an individual central bank. We welcome requests to provide or contribute to such events. We appreciate as much notice as possible as international events may require preparation and planning several months ahead.
The CCBS does not typically make any charge for staff time or for the materials that are provided with events. For London events, participating central banks are expected to pay their nominee's travel and accommodation expenses. For our events abroad, our usual practice is to look to the host institution to cover some of the costs of CCBS staff such as local accommodation and air travel.
The Centre also undertakes comparative research on central banking issues - a relatively new innovation has been the research workshops. A series of Handbooks in Central Banking has also been published - these are short, focused booklets discussing the key points of a number of central banking topics.
