Made of Money
A guide to the economy for 14-16 year olds.

This short lively drama draws on the real-life situations of two teenagers to explain what the economy is, how it works and how it relates to them. It will help young people to understand the value of money - price, why prices change, interest rates, exchange rates - and the role of bodies like the Bank of England in keeping the economy on track. It will also help them to develop an awareness of their role as consumers, the place of businesses and government in the economy, and the way that money flows between each in the form of spending, wages, taxation, saving and borrowing.

The film lasts 25 minutes and is divided into three modules:

  • Money matters
  • Playing your part
  • Keeping control
