Silver Tankard Silver Candlestick Silver Inkstand

The Bank has a relatively small collection of silver compared with other long-established City bodies. Nevertheless the collection contains much of considerable artistic and historical interest. In the main its pieces fall into three categories: some have an historical connection with the Bank itself; others have been presented to the institution, whilst the remainder has been acquired by judicious purchase. The latter reason accounts for the main strength of the collection - a comprehensive selection of items, many of quality and workmanship (particularly in the engraving) bearing the hallmark 4, the year of the Bank's foundation.
