MASKerade
20 July - 28 August
10.30am - 4.00pm
Throughout the summer holidays, step into the role of Ratty, Mole, Badger or Toad and colour your own mask of one of the well-known characters from ‘The Wind in the Willows’ by Kenneth Grahame. Did you know Grahame worked at the Bank of England for thirty years? He became Secretary in 1898 and remained in that position until 1908. Little known details of the famous author’s Bank career can be found in one of the Museum displays.

A family fun day out is guaranteed with all the other Museum attractions including activity sheets for children of all ages, banknote jigsaws, a rollerball game, quizzes, touchscreens and the opportunity for some safe cracking! In addition, visitors can take the controls of a balloon and charter it on a stable course to simulate the Bank in keeping inflation steady and can also try lifting a genuine gold bar (current value approximately £225,000).
No booking is required for any of these events and there is free admission to the Museum.
