Musical Notes and Banknotes

George Frideric Handel, the renowned composer who died in 1759 was a customer of the Bank of England and invested in government securities (later in the 19th century they became known as 'Gilts'). Transfer deeds carrying the composer's signature, a ledger containing his bank account together with views of the Bank as it was when he visited to transact business are the key items in this display.
