The Dutch Legacy

William III in Armour

Marking the 300th anniversary of the death of William III, "Dutch William", this exhibition acknowledged the legacy of the Dutch "invasion" of England during the 17th century and our debt to that nation. It looked briefly at how England profited from her exchanges with Holland, exchanges which influenced the arts, sciences, commerce and world of ideas in this country and helped to spawn the Bank of England.
