NIS Update, August 2017.  The Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has issued a public consultation outlining the government’s wider approach to implementing the NIS Directive. 

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) has published its report ‘Space Weather and Financial Systems: Findings and Outlook’ summarising results from a workshop in London to discuss potential impacts with the financial sector.  The workshop was organised in partnership with the UK and US.  

Presentation slides from a cyber seminar held at the FCA to share lessons from Exercise Waking Shark II and provide industry with updates on the Authorities’ and UK Government’s work to address cyber threats.

 (US) FINRA, the SEC and CFTC Issue Joint Advisory on Business Continuity Planning 
Following Hurricane Sandy, October 2012, FINRA, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) jointly reviewed firms’ business continuity and disaster recovery planning and are issuing the attached Business Continuity Planning advisory.

Market-wide and Sector exercises
 
The Financial Authorities have been designing and running Market-wide and sector lead exercises since 2003.
 
The main objective of these exercises is to improve the sector's preparedness by providing a collective opportunity to review, test and update business continuity and crisis response plans.
 
Transatlantic exercise to tackle cyber threat
Statement on the UK and US government conducting a joint table-top exercise with leading global financial firms to enhance our cooperation and ability to respond effectively to a cyber-incident in the finance sector.

The BBA sponsored a retail banks resilience exercise which took place on 22 April 2013. The exercise was supported by the UK financial authorities who also participated. This executive summary report includes the key findings from the exercise. It is also available via the BBA’s website, a link to which is available in ‘External Links'.
