Publication Scheme - Bank of England

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires each public authority to adopt and maintain a publication scheme, to publish information in accordance with that scheme and to review its publication scheme from time to time.  The Information Commissioner has recognised that structured websites have come to perform much of the function that a separate Publication Scheme was originally intended to fulfil and the Bank considers that its public website is the source of all proactive information made available by the Bank and therefore constitutes its Publication Scheme.  The Information Commissioner’s model publication scheme defines some of the classes of information that it would expect public authorities to publish, as follows:

·         Who we are and what we do
·         What we spend and how we spend it
·         What our priorities are and how we are doing
·         How we make decisions
·         Policies and procedures
·         Lists and registers
·         The services we offer

The Bank’s Annual Report provides much of the information in respect of the above classes but a wealth of additional information is provided in the various sections of the Bank’s website which is structured primarily by function, with internal policies and procedures detailed within the About the Bank section.

Information is free of charge to print or download from our website.  There may be charges for certain hard copy materials, further details of which are contained on the relevant publications’ webpages.
