Banking Standards Board: Worthy of Trust? Law, ethics and culture in banking - opening remarks by Mark Carney

​Chaired by Dame Colette Bowe, Chairman of the Banking Standards Board – Mark Carney, William C Dudley, the Rt Hon the Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.

 

In his opening remarks, the Governor reviews the main elements of the Bank’s work to lift ethical standards in the financial industry, concentrating on how codes of conduct and the Senior Managers Regime can improve culture.

He also reviews the lessons learned from Charlotte Hogg’s resignation, and the steps the Bank is taking in response.
