Finance for Small Firms
Between 1991 and April 2004, the Bank monitored the availability of finance to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The role was to identify any areas where access to appropriate finance seemed to be problematic, to investigate and highlight those issues with key stakeholders and to encourage them to find solutions, if any were needed. This work led to the publication of a series of reports and articles, which are listed below:

These reports reviewed the financing environment for small businesses in the UK.
Quarterly Report on Small Business Statistics
These reports provided a quarterly round-up of published data and survey evidence concerning the small business sector. The last report was October 2003. The sources of the report are summarised here.
