Subject/Request Details: The papers being released cover discussions between the Bank, HM Treasury and the Department for Energy relating to arrangements for the financial support of Burmah Oil. In the event the Bank acquired BP shares from Burmah Oil in January 1975. The papers cover the period before HMT decided that the Bank should acquire the BP stock.
