Aids
The Bank's "Open" Archive records, the Archive catalogue and
retrieval aids. The Bank of England Archive holds the historical archives from
the Bank back to 1694. Most records become open for research after 30 years,
but some are closed for a longer period where they contain information relating
to customers, staff, the security of the Bank and some aspects of its work. The
Archive is catalogued on a free text database for consultation.
