Note:
The original posted version of the Minutes to the
March 2002 Monetary Policy Committee meeting contained an error. Paragraph A17
in the Staff Annex summarising the data presented to the Committee erroneously
stated that "Short-term nominal rates had fallen by 15-20 basis points", when
in fact they had risen by that amount. The data actually presented to the
Committee were, however, correct.
