Takeover Panel Deputy Chairman Appointed

16 July 1997

The Governor of the Bank of England has appointed John Walker-Haworth as a Deputy Chairman of the Takeover Panel with effect from 17 July 1997. Mr Walker-Haworth replaces John Goble, who is retiring.

Notes for Editors

  1. The Governor appoints the Chairman, the Deputy Chairmen and the Director General of the Takeover Panel, along with one or more lay members. The current Chairman of the Panel is Sir David Calcutt QC and the other Deputy Chairman is John Hull.
  2. John Walker-Haworth (52) has been a Managing Director of SBC Warburg since 1995. He was Director-General of Takeover Panel between 1985-87, and is Chairman of the Charities Effectiveness Review Trust.
