Financial Sanctions: Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia
21 June 1999
Following the publication of EC Regulation No 1294/99 in the Official Journal of the European Communities on 19 June 1999, financial sanctions against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia have been extended.
The Bank of England, on behalf of HM Treasury therefore announces that with effect from 19 June 1999, all funds held by banks and other financial institutions in the United Kingdom, on behalf of:
- The Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and/or the Government of the Republic of Serbia,
- Companies, undertakings, institutions and entities owned or controlled by the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and/or the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and
- Persons acting for or on behalf of those Governments
should be frozen.

Note for Editors
The measures published on Saturday 19 June replace those against the Governments of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia which were introduced by the European Community in June and July 1998.
