Following the publication of EC Regulation No.2488/2000 in the Official Journal of the European Communities on 14 November, financial sanctions against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia have been modified to cover only those funds belonging to the former President of the FRY, Mr Slobodan Milosevic and those persons associated with him.
Regulation 1294/99 which extended the scope of the financial sanctions to companies, undertakings, or entities owned or controlled by the Governments of the FRY and the Republic of Serbia, on the 19 June 1999, has now been repealed.

Note For Editors
Following the elections on 24 September, Mr V. Kostunica was sworn in as the new President of the FRY. On the 9 October, the Council of the European Union approved a call for the lifting of all sanctions imposed upon the FRY since 1998, with the exception of the provisions affecting Mr Milosevic and those persons associated with him.
