Bank of England's Court of Directors

5 April 2005

The Bank welcomes the appointment to its Court of Directors of Paul Myners, Chairman of Marks & Spencer, and Arun Sarin, Chief Executive of Vodafone Group.

Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank, said "I am very pleased that Paul Myners and Arun Sarin will be joining Court. Their knowledge and experience will be of considerable value to the management of the Bank as we take forward its strategy over the coming years."

Note to Editors

The Chancellor announced the appointment of Paul Myners and Arun Sarin as non executive Directors of the Court of the Bank of England. They will join Court on 1 June 2005. They replace Kathleen 0' Donovan and Bridget Blow who step down on 31 May 2005.
