News Release: Sir Andrew Large

17 October 2005

Sir Andrew Large, Deputy Governor for Financial Stability, is to leave the Bank of England in January next year.

Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank, says: “I am extremely grateful to Sir Andrew for all the work he has done, both on monetary policy and financial stability. I know he indicated when he accepted the appointment in 2002 that he might not serve a full term. But in more than three years at the Bank Sir Andrew has laid strong foundations for his successor as Deputy Governor for Financial Stability to build on.”

Sir Andrew’s letter to the Chancellor is attached.
