Bank of England Appointment

Jenny Scott, a BBC journalist who began her career as an economist at the Bank of England, is to be appointed Director of Communications at the Bank of England. She will succeed Peter Rodgers when he retires at the end of June.

Notes to Editors

Jenny Scott studied economics at King's College, Cambridge, before joining the Bank of England in 1992 as a professional economist. She moved to Reuters as a reporter in 1994 and after a posting to Amsterdam returned to the UK as an economics reporter. She joined the BBC's economics team in 2000, later becoming BBC Economics Correspondent. Since 2005 she has been Presenter, Daily Politics, on BBC 2. She is the author of The Living Economy (2000).

Peter Rodgers was appointed Secretary of the Bank of England and head of public relations in 1997, a few months ahead of the announcement of monetary policy independence. In 2003 he became Director of Communications. His previous career in journalism was at The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Independent.
