Developments in credit conditions are of key interest to the Bank of England in its assessment of economic conditions. This quarterly survey of bank and building society lenders is an input to this assessment. Lenders are asked about the past three months and the coming three months. The survey covers secured and unsecured lending to households and small businesses; and lending to non-financial corporations, and to non-bank financial firms. Along with various data sources, including the quarterly Bank Liabilities Survey, and discussions between the major UK lenders and Bank staff, this survey serves as an input into the quarterly Credit Conditions Review which presents the Bank of England’s latest assessment of bank funding conditions and household and corporate credit conditions in the UK.
