As part of its Strategic Plan, launched in March 2014, the Bank committed to opening up its research agenda to external contributions by publishing its key research questions.
After extensive consultation with researchers across the Bank and the wider academic community, the Bank has synthesised these questions into five core research themes. These themes are ambitious and diverse, spanning all areas of the Bank’s activities. Although these themes represent the Bank’s longer-term Research Priorities, the Bank will maintain the flexibility for researchers to carry out research and analysis on important monetary, macroprudential and microprudential policy questions as and when the need arises.
The OBRA is a long-term agenda. But every six months, the Bank selects a set of topics
within the OBRA to prioritise and we particularly welcome interest from external academics, researchers and experts to discuss, and potentially collaborate on, these topics.
