In a speech to members of the Confederation of British Industry in Birmingham, Gertjan Vlieghe explains that a tight labour market continues to increase domestic inflationary pressures. Along with strong global growth and diminishing downside risks to medium-term inflation, he argues that this outlook is consistent with one or two quarter point increases in Bank Rate per year over the forecast period.
