The household sector’s holdings of M4 rose by £0.7 billion in October. The annual growth rate increased to 2.9%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £1.3 billion. The annual growth rate fell further, to 1.8%. Private non-financial corporations’ (PNFCs’) holdings of M4 increased by £1.2billion; the annual growth rate continued to rise, to 3.0%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to PNFCs was broadly unchanged in October and annual growth was less negative, at -3.2%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) rose by £31.7 billion and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs rose by £25.3 billion in October.

M4 lending excluding intermediate OFCs fell by £13.9 billion in October, compared with a £2.6 increase in September.
