In seasonally adjusted terms, Q4 2010 HEW was -£7.0bn. The negative figure implies that individuals injected a net total of £7.0bn into housing equity during the quarter. The Q3 HEW figure was -£6.6bn (revised from the previous Q3 estimate of -£6.1bn). Weakness in HEW continues to be driven by the relative weakness of lending compared to resilience in housing investment. HEW as a percentage of post-tax income was -2.7% (compared to a revised -2.6% in Q3).
