Analysis of bank deposits from and lending to UK residents
2nd Quarter 2006
Lending to other financial corporations (OFCs) increased by £12.8bn in Q2, mainly driven by lending to mortgage and housing credit corporations (+£6.9bn). Lending to non-financial corporations (NFCs) rose by £15.5bn, driven by increases in lending to development, buying, selling and renting of real estate (+£6.9bn), legal, accountancy, consultancy & other business activities, and health & social work (+£2.1bn each).
Deposits from OFCs increased by £12.2bn in Q2, driven by deposits from mortgage and housing credit corporations, (+£6.9bn). Deposits from NFCs rose by £12.9bn, largely accounted for by increases from legal, accountancy, consultancy & other business activities (+£4.2bn) and the wholesale and retail trade (+£2.4bn).
