Capital issuance statistics consist of UK-based primary market issuance of bonds, commercial paper and equity, representing finance raised in the UK.

Overview
Gross issuance of equity and debt securities by UK residents was £45.5bn in April, £10.5bn higher than in March and £10.0bn higher than the previous six month average.
Bond issuance was £27.0bn in April, which compares to £21.2bn in March, and was £9.5bn higher than the previous six month average.
MFI bond issuance was £13.4bn in April, which compares to £13.2bn in March, and was £4.7bn higher than the previous six month average.
OFC bond issuance was £8.0bn in April, which compares to £2.5bn in March, and was £2.5bn higher than the previous six month average.
Commercial paper issuance was £14.7bn in April, £1.4bn higher than in March, but was £2.1bn lower than the previous six month average.
Equity issuance was £3.7bn in April, which compares to £0.4bn in March, and was £2.6bn higher than the previous six month average.

The Capital issuance Statistical Release is currently published 14 working days after the end of the reporting period. The Bank’s Data and Statistics Division are reviewing the timeliness of this release and are considering changing publication to 19 working days after the end of the reporting period with effect from the July statistical release (June 2019 data). The additional time will allow for further quality assurance of the data ahead of publication. The final decision will be conveyed in June’s statistical release (May 2019 data).
