External business of banks operating in the UK
3rd Quarter 2005
External liabilities of banks operating in the UK grew by $108.7 billion during Q3 2005. This was driven by Developed Countries, with large increases to the United States and the Netherlands. The only region to decrease was Offshore Centres, driven by falls in deposits from the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas.
During Q3 2005, external claims rose by $63.0 billion, mostly due to Developed and Developing Countries. The largest increases were against the United States and Spain, while there were notable falls against Japan and France.
