External business of banks operating in the UK
2nd Quarter 2006
External liabilities of banks operating in the UK grew by $93.1 billion during Q2 2006 to stand at $5,104.0 billion. Liabilities to all regions rose over the quarter, with notable increases to Germany, the Cayman Islands, Jersey and Norway. Large decreases were reported against the United States and the Bahamas.
During Q2 2006, external claims of banks operating in the UK rose by $67.4 billion to stand at $4,559.4 billion. Considerable increases in claims were reported against the Netherlands and the Cayman Islands, while smaller increases were reported vis-à-vis Switzerland and Norway. There was a notable fall against the United States.
