Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending
April 2005

1 June 2005

The annual growth of M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector slowed to its weakest since March 2002. The annual rate of growth of the household sector's holdings of M4 picked up slightly. The annual growth rate of private non-financial corporations' (PNFCs') holdings of M4 fell in April, after its rise in March, while the annual growth rate of M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to PNFCs rose to be the strongest since February 2001. M4 deposits held by other financial corporations (OFCs) fell slightly in April, with a similar fall in M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs. Changes in aggregate holdings of M4 and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) in April, shown in Table C, were revised upwards from those released provisionally, by £0.2 billion and £1.4 billion respectively.
