Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending
August 2005
M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £7.4 billion in August. The annual growth rate continued to fall, to 10.3% in August. The annual rate of growth of the household sector's holdings of M4 also fell, to 8.3%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to private non-financial corporations (PNFCs) rose by £1.6 billion in August, whilst their holdings of M4 fell (-£0.7bn) for the first time since February 2005. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) fell by £3.1bn and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs fell by £0.1bn in August, with both their annual growth rates falling.

Funds raised by PNFCs from UK MFIs and the
capital markets totalled £0.5 billion in August, below
the average of the previous six months. Further information
