Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending

M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £8.7 billion in May. The annual growth rate remained unchanged at 9.8% following a revision to April's data (previously 9.7%). Annual growth in the household sector’s holdings of M4 decreased by 0.2pp, to 7.9%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to private non-financial corporations (PNFCs) rose by £4.3 billion in May, with annual growth increasing by 0.4pp to 17.2%. PNFCs' holdings of M4 fell by £0.3 billion; annual growth also fell, by 4.4pp to 7.6%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) increased by £2.0 billion and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs rose by £6.7 billion in May.
