Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending
October 2006
M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £9.6 billion in October. The annual growth rate increased by 0.2pp to 10.3%. Annual growth in the household sector's holdings of M4 increased by 0.2pp to 8.5%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to private non-financial corporations (PNFCs) rose by £2.7 billion in October, with annual growth falling by 0.3pp to 18.1%. PNFCs' holdings of M4 increased by £3.8 billion; annual growth increased by 0.3pp to 14.4%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) increased by £6.0 billion and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs increased by £4.7 billion in October.

Funds raised by PNFCs from UK MFIs and the capital markets totalled £4.2 billion in October, lower than the £8.5 billion recorded in September. Further information on capital issues can be found in the Capital Issuance release of 20 November.
