Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending
April 2007
M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £8.7bn in April. The annual growth rate fell by 0.1pp to 10.1%. Annual growth in the household sector's holdings of M4 fell by 0.3pp to 8.0%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to private non-financial corporations (PNFCs) rose by £4.9bn in April, with annual growth increasing by 0.1pp to 18.6%. PNFCs' holdings of M4 increased by £6.6bn; annual growth rose by 3.0pp to 14.7%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) increased by £9.5bn and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs increased by £9.7bn in April.

Funds raised by PNFCs from UK MFIs and capital markets totalled £7.2bn in April, higher than the £3.0bn raised in March. Further information on capital issues can be found in the Capital Issuance release of 21 May.
