Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending

M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £8.7 billion in March. The annual growth rate was unchanged at 10.3%. Annual growth in the household sector's holdings of M4 increased by 0.2pp to 8.3%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to private non-financial corporations (PNFCs) rose by £6.5 billion in March, with annual growth falling by 1.2pp to 18.6%. PNFCs' holdings of M4 fell by £1.1 billion; annual growth fell by 1.3pp to 11.1%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) increased by £10.3 billion and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs increased by £2.4 billion in March.

Funds raised by PNFCs from UK MFIs and the capital markets totalled £3.5 billion in March, lower than the £7.0 billion raised in February. Further information on capital issues can be found in the Capital Issuance release of 23 April.
