Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending
September 2007
M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £8.7bn in September. The annual growth rate slowed to 9.5%. Annual growth in the household sector's holdings of M4 remained at 8.2%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to private non-financial corporations (PNFCs) rose by £2.3bn in September, while annual growth fell by 0.6pp to 16.4%. PNFCs’ holdings of M4 rose by £2.4bn; annual growth fell by 0.4pp to 10.9%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) increased by £4.1bn and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs rose by £18.6bn in September.

Funds raised by PNFCs from UK MFIs and capital markets totalled £6.5bn in September, lower than the £8.5bn raised in August. Further information on capital issues can be found in the Capital Issuance release of 18 October.
