Sectoral breakdown of aggregate M4 and M4 lending

The household sector’s holdings of M4 increased by £7.1 billion in March. The annual growth rate increased to 8.7%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to the household sector rose by £8.3 billion. The annual growth rate remained at 8.6%. Private non-financial corporations’ (PNFCs’) holdings of M4 fell by £2.8 billion; annual growth fell by 1.2 percentage points to 6.2%. M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to PNFCs rose by £1.7 billion in March, while annual growth fell by 1.4 percentage points to 14.0%. Holdings of M4 by other financial corporations (OFCs) rose by £6.8 billion and M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations etc) to OFCs rose by £7.7 billion in March.

Funds raised by PNFCs from UK MFIs and capital markets totalled £8.7 billion in March, lower than the £9.9 billion raised in February. Further information on capital issues can be found in the Capital Issuance release of 18 April.
