Provisional estimates of broad money (M4) and credit (M4 lending)

Provisional figures for April indicate that M4 rose by £8.2 billion, seasonally adjusted; below the average rise for the previous twelve months of £9.5 billion. The twelve-month growth rate was 10.4%, the same as in March.

M4 lending iincreased by £8.5 billion or 0.5%, seasonally adjusted, in April. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 10.5% from 11.0% in March.

M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations) rose by £10.2 billion or 0.6%, seasonally adjusted, in April, below the average increase for the previous six months of £14.4 billion. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 11.9% from 12.6% in March.
