Provisional estimates of broad money (M4)
and credit (M4 lending)
June 2005
Provisional figures for June indicate that M4 rose by £1.1 billion or 0.1%, seasonally adjusted; lower than the average rise for the previous six months of £13.5 billion and May's rise of £22.4 billion. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 11.0% from 11.6% in May.
M4 lending increased by £6.5 billion or 0.4%, seasonally adjusted, in June. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 10.5% from 11.3% in May.
M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations) increased by £11.6 billion or 0.7%, seasonally adjusted, in June. This is below the average rise for the previous six months of £17.0 billion, but higher than the increases in October and November 2004. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 12.3% from 12.6% in May.
