Provisional estimates of broad money (M4)
and credit (M4 lending)
January 2006
Provisional figures for January indicate that M4 rose by £6.9 billion, seasonally adjusted; below the average rise for the previous six months of £13.2 billion. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 11.7% from 12.6% in December.
M4 lending increased by £8.9 billion or 0.5%, seasonally adjusted, in January. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 9.7% from 10.2% in December.
M4 lending (excluding the effects of securitisations) increased by £21.9 billion or 1.2%, seasonally adjusted, in January. The twelve-month growth rate rose to 12.1% from 11.9% in December.
