Provisional estimates of broad money (M4)
and credit (M4 lending)
April 2008
Provisional figures for April indicate that M4 rose by £11.6 billion, seasonally adjusted; in line with the average flow for the previous six months of £12.8 billion. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 11.2% from 11.9% in March.
M4 lending increased by £26.0billion, seasonally adjusted, in April. The twelve-month growth rate rose to 12.5% from 12.2% in March.
M4 lending excluding the effects of securitisations etc and loan transfers also increased by £42.4 billion, seasonally adjusted, in April. The one-month growth rate increased to 1.8%. The twelve-month growth rate rose to 14.4% from 13.4% in March.
