Provisional estimates of broad money (M4)
and credit (M4 lending)
May 2008
Provisional figures for May indicate that M4 rose by £6.3 billion, seasonally adjusted; below the average flow for the previous six months of £13.7 billion. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 10.0% from 11.0% in April.
M4 lending increased by £4.8 billion or 0.2%, seasonally adjusted, in May. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 11.3% from 12.5% in April.
M4 lending excluding the effects of securitisations etc and loan transfers increased by £0.2 billion, seaonally adjusted, in May. The twelve-month growth rate fell to 12.4% from 14.4% in April.
