PGP (Pretty Good Privacy)
The Monetary and Financial Statistics Division within the Bank has looked at software solutions that provide encryption for email communications including email attachments. We are using PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) Gateway Web Messenger because PGP is widely adopted and provides a mechanism to enable secure communications with external recipients who do not already have an email security solution.
Item five of the Bank’s Statistical Code of Practice covers our commitment to ensuring the confidentiality of the statistical data supplied to us and we feel that this initiative will help us to further strengthen our processes.
Please note that PGP Web Messenger is only for email correspondence and not for data submitted electronically via BEERS.
