1. Expedite (4.6.2) (update for electronic
reporters)
During recent months, we have experienced an increased number
of problems where banks using Bank of England Electronic Reporting
System (BEERS) have not been able to connect to the Information
Exchange at AT&T. During our discussions with the AT&T
helpdesk, an upgrade to a newer version of Expedite (version
4.6.2) was suggested. The new version has now been tested, and
is seen to be working as expected.
We suggest that everyone takes this opportunity to upgrade, so that any possible problems of not connecting to the Information Exchange are avoided (this only affects banks sending via modem). However, we are aware that this version of Expedite is still not compatible with Windows XP. If you are now running on Windows XP, sending your encrypted BEERS files to our dedicated e-mail address, MFSD_BEERS@BOFE.CO.UK would resolve this problem. Your software company will be able to issue you instructions on how to do this.
Banks using a software company package for electronic reporting need not do anything at this stage, as your software company will be in contact in due course. For those of you that have an in-house BEERS system, please contact Julie Bigwood either via e-mail at julie.bigwood@bankofengland.co.uk or on 020 7601 4544 who will explain how to obtain the necessary software.
Banks can continue to send to the Information Exchange at AT&T using the current version of Expedite (4.4.1), but we do suggest that you upgrade to version 4.6.2 at the next possible opportunity. If you have any questions concerning Expedite, please contact Julie Bigwood as above.
