1.Form QX - abolition of sections 2 and 3 (effective immediately)
As part of the ongoing review of reporting forms (as mentioned in Statistical Notice 2005/01 and 2005/08), sections 2 and 3 of the Form QX ("capital transactions undertaken" and "transactions in UK investments") will no longer be required to be reported with effect from Q3 2006. Figures for Q2 2006 submitted in July will be the final data collected. The rest of the Form QX is unaffected by this change.
The Bank has established a method to estimate these data using other sources, so reporting institutions should have no concerns about ceasing to produce these transactions data if they are not required internally for any purpose other than statistical reporting.
To reduce the impact of this change on reporters we will not be removing sections 2 and 3 from the technical specification for Form QX at this time. From Q3 2006 onward reporters should report zero in all boxes in sections 2 and 3 of the form. To allow time for reporters’ software to reflect this change the Bank will not introduce validation checks to ensure the reporting of zeroes in sections 2 and 3 until Q4 2006. If you experience problems in validating your forms, please contact Leslie Lambert (Tel. 0207 601 4544) for guidance.
For any other questions about these changes, please contact Stephen Burgess (Tel. 020 7601 5356), or Norbert Janssen (Tel. 020 7601 4341).
Updated pages of the validations for Form QX, for insertion in the Yellow Folder, will be issued in a future statistical notice.

2. Significant and/or strategic proposals for Bank of England reporting (information)
The Bank of England compiles a list, twice yearly, of significant and/or strategic proposals for Bank of England Reporting which is sent to the British Bankers’ Association (BBA). The latest updated list is now available on our website
Reporting institutions should be aware that the proposals listed in this note are not finalised and all entries will be discussed with the BBA who may decide to consult with, or convene, their Banking Statistics Panel. Should reporting institutions wish to contribute to those discussions they should contact David Dooks at the BBA (Tel. 020 7216 8831). Formal notification to reporting institutions of changes to reporting will either be by Statistical Notice or by letter from the Bank.
