1. Cash Ratio Deposits (effective immediately)
Cash Ratio Deposits (CRDs) are non-interest bearing deposits lodged with the Bank of England by eligible institutions (ie. banks and building societies), who have reported average eligible liabilities (ELs) in excess of £500 million over a six-month calculation period.
The level of each institution’s CRD is calculated twice yearly (in May and November) at 0.15% of average ELs in excess of £500 million over the previous six end-calendar months. The next adjustment to CRDs is due to take place on Friday 1 June, based on data reported on BT item 46 (Total eligible liabilities) for the months of November 2006 to April 2007.
The deadline for revisions to ELs to be reflected in the 1 June adjustment is 5pm on 17 May 2007, call notices will be issued shortly thereafter. Amendments to BT item 46 can be made via the usual contacts, but must be confirmed either in writing or by re-submitting the form.
If you have any queries relating to CRDs, please contact Sarah Waddington (Tel. 020 7601 5505).
2. Statistical Reporting Seminars (replies by 29 June please)
We will be running a one day briefing seminar later this year. The morning is for those with little or no experience of reporting statistical data to the Bank. In this session, we aim to give an overview of why and how we collect the data, what we do with it and the requirements for cash ratio deposits.
The morning will include:
- Data Collection
- Cash Ratio Deposits
- Overview of individual forms
The afternoon session will consist of workshops based on specific problem areas identified by reporting institutions. To help us make the workshops as focussed as possible, we would be grateful if reporting institutions could provide us with details of any specific problem areas or subject which we could cover by returning the reply slip below.
More detailed agendas and booking forms will be circulated nearer the time so that reporting institutions can make an informed decision about whether to attend. Details of how to book a place will be circulated in a future Statistical Notice.

3. Form BT (effective from end-October 2007 reporting)
An error has been discovered on the new version of Form BT (effective from October 2007), which was placed on our website following Statistical Notice 2007/03. The Validation Form was also affected by the error, although the definitions and validations were not.
Boxes BTC45A, BTC45B, BTC45BA, BTC45BB, BTC45C, BTC45CA, BTC45CB and BTC45D were omitted from the new form. This was an oversight, and reporting institutions are still expected to report these items after October 2007.
Software houses have been informed of the change and the technical specification for electronic reporting has been updated.
The Bank apologises for any inconvenience this has caused.
